The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, the largest public gallery in Durham Region, occupies a 36,000-square-foot downtown building designed by world-renowned architect Arthur Erickson. Nearby is Parkwood National Historic Site, a grand estate, that offers public tours and events and has become a popular filming location. The Parkwood Estate’s annual black-tie gala is a high-profile benefit held each year.
In terms of medical services, Lakeridge Health Oshawa, one of Ontario’s largest community hospitals, includes a regional cancer centre and the LHEARN Centre, a leading health care training facility and the location for the new Queen’s University Family Medicine residency program.
In Oshawa, you’ll find over 2,627 acres of parkland and 27 kilometres of paved trails. With a wide variety of indoor and outdoor facilities including arenas, recreation complexes, athletic fields, beaches, trails, playgrounds, and pools, the City of Oshawa has something for everyone!
Oshawa is also well served by 20 public transit routes, as well as easy access to the Toronto and the GTA on GO Transit. Almost a third of Oshawa’s residents commute to the GTA each day for work and play.
